Kazakhstan Society of Hematologists
The Kazakhstan Society of Hematology (KSH) is a republican professional association that brings together hematologists across Kazakhstan into a unified professional community. The Society unites specialists working across the full spectrum of blood disorders — from anemias and inherited coagulopathies to acute leukemias, lymphomas, multiple myeloma, and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
The Society’s central office is located in Astana, with regional representations operating across the regions of Kazakhstan. The Chair of the Board is Irina A. Pivovarova.
KSH organizes the key events of professional hematology in Kazakhstan, including the annual international HemForum, thematic conferences, and workshops featuring experts from Kazakhstan and abroad. The Society’s experts contribute to the development of clinical protocols and regulatory documents that define the foundation of hematology care in the country.
The mission of the Society is to ensure that every patient with a blood disorder, in any region of Kazakhstan, can receive modern, timely, and dignified medical care, and that every hematologist can work in conditions that match the complexity and responsibility of the specialty.
This translates into three inseparable lines of effort:
• For patients — to align Kazakhstan’s standard of diagnosis and treatment with the best international practice, to expand the real-world availability of contemporary therapies within the State Guaranteed Volume of Free Medical Care (GOBMP) and the Compulsory Social Health Insurance system (OSMS), and to ensure that quality of care does not depend on where a patient lives.
• For physicians — to protect the professional interests of hematologists: advocating for fair working conditions, sound legal interpretation of clinical decisions, supporting colleagues in disputes with regulatory bodies, and articulating a consolidated position of the professional community.
• For the specialty — to advance hematology in Kazakhstan through education, research, dialogue with health authorities, and international cooperation.
• Development and revision of clinical protocols for diagnosis and treatment of blood disorders
• Defending the professional interests of hematologists in dialogue with government bodies and insurers
• Expanding patient access to contemporary diagnostics and therapy
• Continuing medical education: HemForum, conferences, master classes, workshops
• International cooperation with the EHA and sister societies across the region
